This time each year I think back to the days when I was a high school teacher. Our students were counting the minutes until the last day of school. The kids could not wait for the freedom of summer. They looked forward to sleeping in, staying up late, hanging out with friends, and soaking up the summer sun. Most didn't realize their teachers were equally excited about summer and the freedom of locking the classroom door and heading home on that last day. For some teachers summer meant time with their children, for others, it meant trips to Europe, while others enjoyed long lazy days reading books and cuddling with their dog or cat.
How will you spend your summer? Do you have a high school senior spending their last summer at home before heading to college in the fall? Do you have a college graduate headed off on his or her first true adult adventure? Do you have a little one giggling while running through the sprinkler? No matter what you do this summer find time to make memories with your family and friends. Take a trip, walk the trails near your home; head to the lake, the mountains, or the beach. Read a book. Treat yourself to days with no schedule or fill your days with your favorite activities. Maybe bring the neighbors together for happy hour in the cul-de-sac or find an old-fashioned drive-in movie. No matter what you do let's welcome summer with open arms.
Hello Summer! We're glad you're here.
